Undergraduate - Application Information

The Division of Biological Sciences at The University of Montana offers Bachelor’s degrees in Biology, Microbiology, and Medical Technology.  The Division is lead by a diverse group of faculty whose research is funded by the National Science Foundation, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the National Institutes of Health.  Our faculty bring into the classroom their knowledge, insight and excitement about the biological sciences. We also have superb opportunities for undergraduates to get actively involved in independent research projects with our faculty.  We feel that hands-on experience is one of the best (and most fun and exciting!) ways to learn about the biological sciences.

All of our degrees offer a solid foundation in the biological sciences, which allows our alumni to enter a multitude of different careers.  Our students enter professional programs in health-related fields (medical, dental, physical therapy, veterinary, physician’s assistant, among others).  Our alumni continue their studies at the graduate level in many different fields of study (medical, cellular, molecular, physiological, ecological, behavioral, etc.).  Our students gain employment through governmental agencies (crime labs, US Fish and Wildlife, Environmental Protection Agency, Forest Service, Park Service, etc.) or industry (biotechnology, environmental consulting, private laboratories, etc.).  Still others enter the teaching profession, and teach middle or high school biology.  We also have students who become science writers or illustrators, wildlife filmmakers, or curators of natural history museums or science centers.
