BIOL 312 STUDENTS
REGISTRATION AND OVERRIDE ISSUES
1. If BIOL 312 is reported to have a full enrollment on CyberBear, I CANNOT, and will NOT, sign override slips for anyone to register for the course.
2. If you are interested in becoming a registered student in this course, it is VERY important that you attend the lab of your choice beginning with the first regularly scheduled labs on 29 and 30 August. The laboratory instructors will be maintaining a roster of attending individuals. I utilize these rosters as I consider signing override slips over the subsequent weeks. Priority is given to individuals who have attended class from the first scheduled day, and whose academic schedule allows them to enroll in the laboratory section with an available seat.
3. We will make every attempt to accommodate all interested individuals, but we offer absolutely NO guarantee that you will be able to register for the course if all lab sections are stated to be 'full' on CyberBear.
A WAITING LIST IS NOT BEING MAINTAINED.
The honors sect ions for BIOL 312 are designed to provide a strong foundation for students seriously considering entering the health professions (dentistry, medicine, nursing, nutrition, optometry, osteopathy, physical therapy, and podiatry) and paramedical fields. Honors students attend the lecture portion of the course with non-honors students but are scheduled to meet for three, rather than two, hours of laboratory each week. These laboratory sections provide intensive study beyond the non-honors sections human anatomy and physiology preparatory curriculum, and have a better student:instructor ratio. The Honors laboratories will cover much of the same information presented in the non-honors sections except there will be additional emphasis placed upon (1) the relationship between histology and function of the cells, tissues, and organs of the human body, (2) radiographic anatomy, and, (3) the terminology, pathways, and organization of the central and peripheral human nervous systems. Besides this additional academic information more emphasis is placed upon (1) student self-evaluation, (2) the development and assessment of professional traits, and, (3) the development and assessment of critical thinking skills that will assist the student in becoming more proficient in scientific thinking in a manner that enhances their ability to better correlate structure with function. In addition, the laboratory and lecture final examinations are more integrative in nature for the Honors sections.
